LJ Puppy Play sessions are essentially group play dates for puppies to learn to socialize with one another. The LJ Puppy Play sessions are held in a space in Santa Monica.
Each session is 1 hour in length as to not overwhelm the puppies. There are a maximum of 4 puppies in each session.
First time pups are required to meet in a 1 hour 1:1 session with Oliver (a 50lb goldendoodle) and I before attending sessions with other puppies. This allows the puppy to get comfortable with us and feel safe before it heads into a very overwhelming environment.
Every session, including the 1:1 session, is streamed on Twitch.tv/Leahbjackson.
For your puppy to attend a class we require proof showing:
- Your Puppy is aged 10 weeks to 6 months.
- Your Puppy has had at least two rounds of vaccinations.
- Your Puppy has had one round of deworming
Note: Many owners believe that puppies need to have all rounds of shots and rabies shots before they can socialize with other puppies, but according to the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior, puppies can and should play in safe, indoor environments as early as possible to become accustomed to more situations.
Veterinarians specializing in behavior recommend that owners take advantage of every safe opportunity to expose young puppies to the great variety of stimuli that they will experience in their lives. Enrolling in puppy classes prior to three months of age can be an excellent means of improving training, strengthening the human-animal bond, and socializing puppies in an environment where risk of illness can be minimized. - AVSAB
